Default Future Professions in Guild Wars

well, I just made it to the end of the game on my assassin and was a bit sad to do so. I had hoped that with NF's release I would be able to make some radically new builds for my assassin, but most of my new builds ended up being enhancements for the builds I already had. I attribute this lack of content to the fact that ANet did an amazing job of putting in stuff for EVERYONE in this game. There is new PvP, more skills for every class, and more armor for every class. However, one thing that NF proved to me is that despite the ANet team's great talent, as more professions are added to the game the amount of stuff available to every class is going to dwindle unless more staff is hired or developing tools become a lot more efficient.

ANet is my favorite company, so I think that they could do it. However, it would make more sense for me at this point to incorporate multiple goals into one strategy. Rather than making completely new professions, why not make existing classes PLAY like completely new professions?

For example, by purchasing chapter 4 three new skill trees would be unlocked for my assassin. I'll make up some names, but the important thing here is the structure, not the actual trees I'm providing as examples:

Factions-Only Players:
Critical Strikes
Deadly Arts
Dagger Mastery
Shadow Arts

Chapter 4-Only Players:
Critical Strikes
Stealth Arts
Shuriken Mastery
Evasion

Both:
Critical Strikes
Deadly Arts
Dagger Mastery
Shadow Arts
Stealth Arts
Shuriken Mastery
Evasion

As you can see, now existing players can play their existing characters as a WHOLE NEW CLASS or mix and match the combat styles of different regions to suit their fancy.

Opinions? (Even if you don't like my suggestion, what do you think about the larger issue that this suggestion is trying to address?)

A similar idea was posted by ActionJack in sardelac sanitarium. After I make this post I'll go back and look for it. But it basically implied some of the ideas that you've brought to the table. It was a really good idea that instead of making new classes, there would be new attributes instead. And as you say, you could mix and match depending on what campaigns you own.

It was also suggested that the classes could be given different names for different capmaigns. So if Factions had the Assassin, then NightFall could have the Sabouter - which would be the same as the Assassin except for a few changes to the attribute line (the primary attribute would remain the same). Interesting?

In other threads, the introduction of synergised skills came to the table, another good idea as well.

I'll go look for those threads for you.
